Meet Kathy

Kathy Sawyer holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Piano from Grove City College and is certified to teach K–12 Choral and Instrumental Music. She also earned dual Master’s degrees in Adult Education and Music Education from the Schools of Education and Music/Performing Arts at Syracuse University.

With a rich career spanning New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, Kathy has served as a piano teacher, studio owner, and lead instructor. She has also taught in the Music Department at Grove City College and held leadership roles in various churches as Director of Music, Program Ministries, and Education.

Now based in Fairlington with her husband, Rev. Clark Sawyer, Kathy co-owns and operates Kathy’s Keys Piano Studio, a warm and welcoming space for students of all ages. In addition to teaching, she serves as piano accompanist at Abingdon Elementary School and performs with the Westminster Ringers Handbell ensemble.

The Studio

Kathy’s Keys is located in the heart of Fairlington, providing a warm, cozy, and inviting space where students feel comfortable and inspired to learn. The studio is thoughtfully designed to create a relaxed, focused atmosphere that supports creativity and growth. Whether it’s a child’s first lesson or an adult returning to the piano, the environment encourages a love for music and makes every visit something to look forward to.
