Terms & Conditions

Registration & Enrollment

  • All students must complete the registration process before beginning lessons.

  • Enrollment is offered per session, and space is limited. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Session details are as follows:

    • Piano Explorers, Piano Pioneers, and Private Lessons for Children:
      Each session includes 6 lessons over 6 weeks.

    • Adult Private Lessons:
      Each session includes 2 lessons over 2 weeks.

Payment & Refund Policy

  • Lesson fees are billed by session (typically in 6-week increments) and are due in full before the first lesson of each session.

  • All payments are non-refundable. Once a lesson is booked, no refunds will be issued for cancellations or missed lessons 

Cancellation & Makeup Policy

Lessons cancelled by the teacher will be rescheduled within the same 6-week session or offered virtually at the originally scheduled time.

In case of inclement weather, Kathy's Keys follows the APS (Arlington Public Schools) closure policy for in-person lessons. If APS is closed due to weather, students may opt to take their lesson virtually at the scheduled time. To arrange this, please contact Kathy via text.

Makeup lessons for student absences (due to travel, sports birthdays, etc.) are not guaranteed. However, recognizing the importance of these life events, two designated makeup days (with limited availability) are offered each 6-week session. The student may sign up for these makeup slots through the website or in person at the studio. 

If your child is unwell on the day of a lesson, please text me as soon as possible. In place of an in-person lesson, you may choose one of the following:

  • A virtual lesson at the scheduled time

  • A video recording of your child playing, sent to me for written or video feedback

If neither option is possible, the lesson may be forfeited or, if time permits in the studio calendar, rescheduled for a makeup lesson.

Studio Expectations

  • Students are expected to practice regularly, bring necessary materials, and maintain a positive attitude.

  • Parents are encouraged to support practice routines and communicate openly about student progress

Privacy & Communications

  • All student information is kept confidential and used only for studio-related communication.

  • From time to time, photos or videos may be taken during lessons or recitals for promotional purposes. Please inform Kathy in writing if you do not wish your child to be included.

Website Use

  • This website is intended for information, communication, and lesson scheduling purposes.

  • Registered members may use the site to view studio policies, book sessions, and access studio-related updates.

  • Any personal information provided through the website — including contact details and scheduling preferences — is kept strictly confidential and is never shared or sold to third parties.
