Children/
Youth Program

Learning to play the piano offers children numerous benefits, including improved concentration, enhanced coordination, and a stronger foundation for creativity and self-expression. It also helps develop patience, discipline, and confidence as they progress through their musical journey. At Kathy’s Keys, children are welcomed to begin lessons at any stage—whether they’re just starting out or have previous experience—and each lesson is carefully tailored to meet their individual needs and interests, ensuring a positive and encouraging learning experience.

Piano
Pioneers

Sheet Music

Piano Pioneers is a small-group lesson experience designed for 3 to 5 students who are ready to explore the world of music together. More than just a class, Piano Pioneers fosters collaboration, creativity, and confidence in a fun and supportive setting.

Group learning brings a unique energy to piano study. Students learn not only from the teacher but also from each other—celebrating successes, sharing discoveries, and building musical friendships. Through games, ensemble playing, rhythm exercises, and foundational keyboard skills, each Pioneer develops at their own pace while staying motivated by the camaraderie of the group.

Lessons are carefully structured to balance individual attention with group activities, ensuring that each child feels seen, supported, and encouraged. Whether they’re brand new to piano or reinforcing early skills, Piano Pioneers is the perfect place to begin—or continue—a joyful musical journey.

During the fall of 2026, Kathy’s Keys will offer Piano Explorers, a special small-group piano class designed especially for our youngest beginners. These 30-minute classes, limited to 3–4 students per group, provide a fun and engaging introduction to music and piano while building a solid foundation for future piano study.

Two groups will be offered on Mondays:

  • 5:30–6:00 PM for 3- and young 4-year-old beginners

  • 6:00–6:30 PM for Pre-K and Kindergarten students

Through a wide variety of age-appropriate music activities—including rhythm games, singing, movement, listening, and introductory piano skills—students develop coordination, musical understanding, confidence, and enthusiasm for music in a warm, low-pressure environment. Piano Explorers is the perfect first step for young children who are curious about music and ready to begin their musical journey.
